“We just kept after it,” Woodbury coach Andy Hill said. “We had a couple good breaks go our way.”

East Ridge (3-3) took a first-quarter lead on a rushing touchdown by KJ Moore. The Raptors drove twice more into the red zone but only managed three points, thanks in part to an interception by Woodbury’s Isaiah Walters in the end zone.

“Turn the ball over, and it really hurts momentum,” East Ridge coach Dan Fritze said, also noting a late holding penalty.

First report

Woodbury linebacker Jack Bungarden returned an interception for a touchdown with 9:31 to go in the fourth quarter, one of three Royals scores in the period to overcome a 10-0 deficit and defeat East Ridge 21-10 at East Ridge High School.

Bungarden, a junior, caught East Ridge quarterback Riley Larson's pass near the line of scrimmage and returned the ball about 35 yards to give Woodbury a 14-10 lead.

The touchdown came 42 seconds after Woodbury running back Brock Rinehart rushed for a 46-yard score, sprinting past East Ridge's defense after the Raptors appeared to have him contained.

The scoring blitz followed a quiet first three quarters for the Woodbury (3-3) offense. The Royals punted four times and saw two drives stall on fourth down in the first three quarters and also fumbled once.

KJ Moore scored a touchdown for the Raptors (3-3), who had won three consecutive games.
