Top performer winner

Kolby Gartner, St. Michael-Albertville. The senior quarterback led the Knights offense as they defeated Edina 34-29. Gartner threw a touchdown early in the first quarter and then answered every Hornets' scoring drive with another TD pass until late in the fourth quarter, when the Knights found themselves trailing by one point. Throwing a wrinkle in expected offensive game plan, Gartner handed the ball to running back David Collins, who scored with 51 seconds left to win the game. Gartner threw for 289 yards and four touchdowns —including one for 65 yards and another for 45.

Top performer candidates

Elijah Alexander, Andover. After Andover gave up a long first-quarter touchdown to Cambridge-Isanti, the junior quarterback led the Huskies’ dominant offense to 41 unanswered points. Alexander completed 25 passes for 263 yards, and he connected with three different receivers on four passing touchdowns that were completed within just over 20 minutes of playing time in the 41-6 victory.

Kolby Gartner, St. Michael-Albertville. The senior quarterback led the Knights offense as they defeated Edina 34-29. Gartner threw for 289 yards and four touchdowns —including one for 65 yards and another for 45.

Colton Hackel, Perham. The sophomore quarterback surpassed 300 passing yards for the third time this season, the most recent in a 42-34 loss to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton. He tallied season highs in rushing yards (271) and touchdowns (4).
