Thunderhawks' QB, WR land among all-time leaders after Week 4 game

Brett Bergeson

In an awesome display of offensive firepower, the Friday, Sept. 23, West Central North match-up between Montevideo and Albany nearly produced several new state record holders.

Thunderhawks quarterback Brett Bergeson and wide receiver Colton Vien each earned spots among the state's all-time leaders with monster performances in Montevideo's 56-49 victory over the Huskies in Albany.

Bergeson went 24-for-40 on the night, throwing for 502 yards, seven touchdowns and no interceptions, according to Montevideo coach David Vik.

Colton Vien

His performance places him third all-time for most passing yards in a single game and tied for second in most touchdowns thrown in a single game.

Vien was on the receiving end of nine of Bergeson's throws, piling up 141 yards on the day and four touchdowns, according to Vik.

Vien's four touchdowns tied him for second on the state's all-time list for most touchdowns in a game.

Other Montevideo players had breakout nights.

Wide receiver Joe Bednar caught eight passes, amassing 217 yards and averaging 27.1 yards per reception. Receiver Kyle TeBeest caught three passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns.
