And the winner is...MN Football Hub defensive top performer revealed

See who fans voted as the top performer from Sept. 5-6.

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Football Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Connor Kremin, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton. On a night when the Knights defense made 89 total tackles and blocked three Blackjacks' two-point conversion attempts, the junior led the way with 16 total tackles in the 18-12 loss to Dawson-Boyd.

Top performer candidates

Joe Demro, Wayzata. The senior led a strong defensive effort in a 34-15 win against Edina as the Trojans held the Hornets to just one touchdown per half. Demro had 11 total tackles (nine solo), including five for a loss, and four sacks.

Nick Flaskamp, Minneapolis Southwest. The junior linebacker made 17 total tackles (seven solo) in a 19-7 loss to Minneapolis North.

Ramon Lee, Jr., Minneapolis Washburn. The junior registered nine solo tackles (11 total), including one for a loss, in the Millers’ 19-6 win against St. Paul Johnson.

Sylence McKinnie, Minneapolis South. McKinnie had a noteworthy game in the Tigers’ 37-15 loss to Concordia Academy, finishing with nine solo tackles and one sack. He also recovered two fumbles — one which he returned 70 yards for a touchdown.

Elton Myhre, Stewartville. The senior had seven solo tackles, including two for a loss, and a sack in a 15-13 win over Rochester Lourdes.

Jackson Peters, Cretin-Derham Hall. The senior tallied 11 solo tackles, including three for a loss, in the Raiders’ 24-14 victory over visiting East Ridge.

Jake Ratzlaff, Rosemount. The junior recorded 10 solo tackles — and 16 total — and forced a fumble to help the Irish edge Lakeville South 17-14.

Jamie Smith, St. Thomas Academy. The junior linebacker blocked a kick, recovered the ball and returned it 3 yards for a defensive touchdown. Smith made seven total tackles, including one for a loss, as the Cadets defeated Henry Sibley 55-6.

Tucker Thooft, Minneota. The sophomore led the Vikings' defense with 16 total tackles in a 39-10 win against Lakeview.
