FAIRMONT — If the Fairmont Cardinals thought that earning a victory against the Worthington Trojans on Friday night would be as easy as it was in a 48-6 victory last season, they were in for a surprise.

In the season opener for both football teams, Worthington came out of the gates strong and limited Fairmont to a 6-0 lead at halftime.
