Holy Family came up short in its bid for the school's first state championship last fall, falling to Rochester Lourdes in the Class 3A final of the Prep Bowl. Senior quarterback Michael Roane (6-1, 190 pounds), who played in certain offensive packages last year at various positions, will direct this year's offensive attack. The Fire averaged more than 41 points per game during its state run a year ago.

HOLY FAMILY FIRE

Coach: Dave Hopkins. 2010 record: 13-1.

• Hopkins might be looking at the season as a rebuilding one, but he has 19 seniors for a starting point. The Fire has to find replacements at three positions (quarterback, running back and tight end) that accounted for the majority of its offense in 2010. Senior lineman Ryan Dahl (6-9, 295) will be expected to provide leadership.

HOWARD LAKE-WAVERLY-WINSTED LAKERS

Coach: George Montgomery.

2010 record: 4-6.

• The Lakers finished in the middle of the pack in the Central Minnesota Conference a year ago, and much of the same is expected in 2011. Montgomery has some good athletes to work with but just doesn't have a lot of depth.

ROCKFORD ROCKETS

Coach: Dan Houghton. 2010 record: 2-7.

• The Rockets bring back plenty of experience, having lost only four starters. They return 21 players who started, in some cases because of injuries. The key will be coming in with a winning mentality. Rockford was winless in 2008 and won only two games a year ago.

WEST LUTHERAN WARRIORS

Coach: Nathan Veach. 2010 record: 0-9.

• The Warriors are in transition to Nine-Man. They have 28 players out for the squad, but most of them are freshmen or first-year players. Senior quarterback/defensive back Riley Gehl will be counted on end the program's 11-game losing streak.
