St. Clair is dropping its 2011 varsity schedule, according to an article in the Mankato Free Press.

Citing low numbers of returning seniors and safety concerns, the St. Clair school district made a decision last week to play a junior varsity schedule in 2011. The Cyclones hope to return to varsity play for the 2012-2013, according to the article.

St. Clair was looking to field a team with two seniors – one of whom is an exchange student with no experience and seven juniors. The team had only six athletes who weighed more than 170 pounds, according to the article.
