St. Thomas Academy vs. Mahtomedi

7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7

This is one of the most anticipated Class 5A matchups of the season featuring two 5-0 squads.

St. Thomas, ranked No. 2 in Class 5A, hasn't faced a team currently with a winning record. With that said, the Cadets have done everything they're supposed to do and more by outscoring opponents by a combined 213-27. Almost all points allowed have come in second halves of blowouts.

The Cadets provide a tough 1-2 punch with junior running back Savion Hart (46 carries, 396 yards, nine touchdowns) and senior running back Love Adebayo (39 carries, 373 yards, seven touchdowns) producing near identical stat lines. The two were instrumental in St. Thomas Academy's back-and-forth 18-13 win vs. Mahtomedi last year and a perfect 8-0 regular season. Adebayo rushed 23 times for 144 yards and two scores in the win and Hart added 53 yards on 13 carries.

No. 4 Mahtomedi is the defending Class 5A runner up and has eyes on making it back to U.S. Bank Stadium. While without a dynamic duo in the backfield like the Cadets, Corey Bohmert is doing the work of two players. He lugged it 20 times for 214 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-21 road win last week against a solid Spring Lake Park (3-2) team. That brings Bohmert's season totals up to 1,101 yards (12.4 ypc), 15 touchdowns with no fumbles. Mahtomedi has beaten every opponent by two touchdowns or more.
