St. Paul Harding/Humboldt vs. Minneapolis South

6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 23

In year one as a co-op in 2021, St. Paul Harding/Humboldt went 4-5. Not bad for a pair of teams who were struggling to win games on their own. Two rivals coming together also takes time to build chemistry. But maybe not a ton of time. St. Paul Harding/Humboldt broke inside the Associated Press Class 5A top 10 after winning its first two games and improved to 3-0 last week with a 53-0 win over Minneapolis Roosevelt. It’s outsourcing opponents 134-12.

Six players have rushed for 50 or more yards led by Robert Htoo with 288 yards and two touchdowns.  Quarterback Jorge Irizarry has gained 215 yards on the ground and six touchdowns.

Minneapolis South was No. 14 in last week’s Class 4A AP poll. The Tigers are 3-0 and have won twice by double digits. It will face a step up in competition this week. In two games recorded on Minnesota Football Hub, Rai’Shaun Wade leads Minneapolis South with 164 rush yards and two touchdowns. The Tigers won this matchup last year 18-15 with a go-ahead field goal in the fourth by Carter Bursinger.
