Lakeville South vs. Eden Prairie

7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 16

The top two teams ranked in the Star Tribune Metro Top 10 in Class 6A get together for what could be a Prep Bowl preview. No. 1-6A Lakeville South (2-0) takes its 23-game win streak on the road for a rematch of last year’s 42-7 drubbing in Lakeville. It was a two-touchdown game at halftime before Lakeville South pulled away last season. No. 2-6A Eden Prairie (2-0) is a more experienced bunch in 2022 and will benefit from having this one at home.

The Cougars go on the road for the first time. They’re led by senior running back and Iowa State commit Carson Hansen, who used a school-record 87-yard touchdown run to eclipse 250 yards on the ground in last week’s 34-0 rivalry win over Lakeville North. Hansen rushed 16 times for 202 yards and three TDs against Eden Prairie last year.

Eagles quarterback Nick Fazi was held to 18 yards on 4-for-8 passing against Lakeville South in 2021. Another year under his belt has served Fazi well so far this season. The senior has four touchdown passes and more efficient numbers to supplement an always strong run game from the Eagles. Eden Prairie made a statement last week with a 51-7 win over Farmington at Aerie Stadium.
