Shakopee vs. Prior Lake

7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 9

Two schools separated by 10 miles come into this matchup riding high off of big Week 1 victories.

Shakopee traveled north to thump Anoka 49-20 in a game that wasn't close. The Sabers led 35-6 against a squad that won six games last season. Shakopee rushed for 487 yards as a team, led by 143 on 23 carries by senior Jadon Hellerud, and 135 on six carries by senior Garrison Monroe.

Prior Lake was the only Class 6A team to win via shutout last week. The Lakers led 36-0 at halftime against Hopkins and went on to win 43-0. The Lakers piled up 332 rushing yards and were paced by sophomore Levi Eiter with 89 yards and senior Grayson Spronk with 88.

Neither team had to do much in the passing game to get by last weekend, but making plays through the air could be the difference in this matchup of two solid ground attacks.
