Moorhead has scored no fewer than 28 points this season, is averaging 32 per game and scored 46 last week in a loss (50-46) to Elk River. The Spuds had won 11 straight games dating to 2019 state quarterfinal loss to Elk River. Junior quarterback Gavin Quade threw for 218 yards and three touchdowns last week, most often finding wide receiver Alonn Salman (11 receptions, 119 yards, two TDs).
Sauk Rapids-Rice is averaging 30.1 points per game, including last week’s 35-7 trouncing of St. Francis. Storm senior quarterback Dominic Mathies threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns last week, and his 1,337 passing yards this season is sixth-most in the state.
