St. Michael-Albertville vs. Wayzata

7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 17

It’s a big week for big-school showdowns. Both these Metro Gold North Subdistrict programs fit snugly in the state’s top five rankings (Wayzata is No. 5 and St. Michael-Albertville is No. 3 in the AP’s Class 6A), as well as the Star Tribune Metro Top 10 (Wayzata is No. 4 and St. Michael-Albertville is No. 3 in the Star Tribune metro ranking).

St. Michael-Albertville rallied from a 16-0 third-quarter deficit to beat Centennial 19-16. Senior running back Max Keefer provided the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter. Junior Conner Luongvan leads the Knights (2-0) with 126 rushing yards on the season.

There have been no close calls for Wayzata, who beat Roseville 42-0 in their Sept. 2 opener and Champlin Park 23-0 last Friday. Quarterback Ryan Harvey threw four touchdowns for the Trojans (2-0) in the win over Roseville.
