Lakeville South vs. Farmington

7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6

It might not be a bad idea to have a couple of extra scoreboard bulbs handy — and perhaps a spare generator — because this game has all the trimmings of a first-team-to-100-points-wins affair. Well, maybe the winner won’t reach triple digits. Maybe.

Farmington (4-0, 2-0) has scored 42 or more points in three of its four games this fall. The No. 7-6A Tigers are led by senior running back Zac Janz, a 5-foot-9, 200-pound bowling ball who scored five touchdowns in a 68-13 rout of Eagan to open the season. He averages just less than 100 rushing yards per game. Junior running back Rod Finley was the star of last week’s 42-7 rout of Roseville, amassing 165 yard and three TDs on 20 carries.

No. 1-1A Lakeville South (4-0, 3-0) has scored at least 35 points in all of its games, scored 49 or more in three of them, and hit at least 53 points twice. Wisconsin-committed offensive lineman Riley Mahlman — a mountain of a human being at 6-foot-8, 285 pounds — paves the way for Cougars running back Carson Hansen (404 rushing yards, 6 touchdowns), among a host of other talented ball carriers.
