Farmington vs.

Lakeville South

7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11

A few weeks ago this had the look of an interesting game between two good teams. And nothing more.

But after Lakeville South’s 34-19 whopper of a win over No. 1-6A Lakeville North last week, this game’s stature has shot up like a Roman candle.

Can Lakeville South (5-1, 3-1) lay claim to being the best team, at least temporarily, in Class 6A? Does Metro South Subdistrict opponent Farmington (5-1, 3-1) have the talent to bring the No. 5-6A Cougars — who have thrived despite their head coach resigning midseason amid a police investigation — crashing back to earth?

Cougars running back Johnny Shabaz has the talent to match the name, and he scored on a 60-yard run last week to open the scoring.

Farmington junior quarterback Alex Berreth has surpassed 1,000 passing yards, with 13 of his 78 completions going for touchdowns.
