Fridley vs. Mound Westonka

7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4

As the number of unbeaten teams dwindles with each passing week, matchups of undefeated teams are becoming rare. Not unicorn rare, but rare nonetheless.

Anyway, here we go with a matchup of two unbeaten teams: Fridley (5-0, 3-0) faces Mound Westonka (5-0, 3-0) in an intriguing contest featuring two of the metro’s best defenses.

The No. 6-4A Tigers defense, led by running back/linebacker Michael Ude’s 31 tackles, has allowed 20 points through five games and has two shutouts (41-0 against Bloomington Kennedy on Aug. 29 and 56-0 against Columbia Heights on Sept. 20).

Tucker Anderly (41 tackles) and Michael Nolen (39 tackles) lead Mound Westonka, which has allowed 41 points — nearly half of which came on Sept. 13 in a 21-20 win over Providence Academy.
