Mankato West vs. Owatonna

7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4

Can any team compete with — much less beat —  Owatonna? The No. 1-5A Huskies, the defending Class 5A state champions, have dominated each of their five opponents thus far to the tune of a 250-41 scoring advantage.

Owatonna (5-0, 4-0) has a plethora of offensive threats, led by quarterback Brayden Truelson (670 passing yards, eight touchdowns), running back Tanner Hall (475 yards, five touchdowns) and receivers Matt Williams (19 catches, 223 yards) and Ethan Walter (17 catches, 248 yards).

Mankato West (4-1, 4-1) enters the week with a shot of momentum, and seems poised to challenge and perhaps beat Owatonna.

The No. 8-5A Scarlets flashed the look of a true contender last week, pounding Rochester Mayo 58-21 behind quarterback Jack Foster’s 189 passing yards and five touchdown throws.
