Lakeville South vs. Lakeville North

7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4

Not that this rivalry needed added intrigue, but Tyler Krebs’ resignation last week amid an investigation at Lakeville South, and offensive coordinator Ben Burk’s promotion to fill Krebs’ role as head coach, adds an ongoing and unexpected story line to Friday’s game.

The coaching shakeup at Lakeville South (4-1, 2-1) didn’t seem to affect the team’s on-field performance last week, as the No. 7-6A Cougars eased past Prior Lake 35-17 behind three Johnny Shabaz touchdown runs.

Lakeville North (5-0, 4-0) has been mostly drama-free this season, other than Raja Nelson’s surprise insertion at quarterback to start the season. Nelson, a North Dakota State recruit, has been dominant with 440 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground, and 416 yards and six TDs through the air, leading the No. 1-6A Panthers to five consecutive victories by a combined score of 200-32.
