St. Michael-Albertville

vs. Wayzata

7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20

Another week, another big game for Wayzata. The Trojans, who were mostly an afterthought to start the season, have knocked off Blaine (19-0 on Aug. 29), Edina (34-15 on Sept. 6) and Prior Lake (14-10 on Friday) in succession. They’ve clawed to No. 4 in the Class 6A rankings, one spot behind Metro West Subdistrict foe St. Michael-Albertville.

Wayzata (3-0, 2-0) got four touchdown runs from 6-foot-1, 205-pound running back Christian Vasser in last week’s 14-10 triumph over the No. 5-6A Lakers.

Big games have been part of the routine for St. Michael-Albertville, too. The Knights (3-0, 2-0) eased past Shakopee 35-7 behind three touchdown passes from Kolby Gartner, a 6-2, 195-pound senior. They previously beat Maple Grove (27-6 on Aug. 29) and Minnetonka (21-14 in Week 2).
