The Section 1 9-man tournament will pit four of the top teams in 9-man football against each other for one berth to state.
Spring Grove (8-0) is the top-ranked team in the AP poll and the top seed in the section. Houston (7-1) is the No. 2 seed and Cleveland/Immanuel Lutheran (7-1) is the No. 3 seed. Meanwhile, Grand Meadow, which won the last four state titles in 9-man, is the No. 4 seed at 6-2.
Spring Grove needed overtime to win a 52-51 game over fifth-ranked Cleveland/Immanuel Lutheran in the season opener. Sixth-ranked Houston’s lone loss was 26-6 to Spring Grove, and the Hurricanes beat Grand Meadow 30-16. Grand Meadow was receiving votes and has losses to just Houston and Spring Grove. Cleveland/Immanuel Lutheran rides a seven-game win streak, with two shutouts in that span.Grand Meadow and Cleveland played in the state title game last year, a 41-21 Superlarks victory.
