Section 3 could be a battle as well among the top three seeds. Fairmont is the top seed, with a 7-1 record and is ranked sixth in the Associated Press poll. Sibley East (7-1) is ranked third in the poll, but earned the No. 2 seed. Both teams’ lone loss was to a school in a different class.
Third seed Jackson County Central (6-2) is 10th in the AP poll and played in the last two state tournaments.
None of the top three seeds in Section 3 played each other in the regular season.
