Owatonna at Northfield
7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 13

Two very different teams meet for a rivalry game this week when Owatonna travels to Northfield.

The Huskies (6-0, 3-0) will look to defend their Big Southeast Red subdistrict title with their high-scoring offense, while the Raiders (6-0, 3-0) hope to their grind-it-out style of play results in a victory that keeps them in contention for the crown.

Owatonna's offense can light up a scoreboard (52.2 points per game) behind the play of senior quarterback Abe Havelka, who's the state's third-leading passer with 1,337 yards and 18 touchdowns. On the ground, junior running back Jason Williamson (1,146 rushing yards, 19 TDs) carries the load for the No. 2-5A Huskies and is fifth in the state in rushing yards per game average (191).

The Huskies defense has been formidable, allowing just 9.3 points per game. That could mean scoring may be hard to come by for a Northfield offense that features senior quarterback Lars Prestemon, who threw a touchdown last week, his ninth of the year for the No. 6-5A Raiders.

Owatonna was 2-0 versus Northfield last season, defeating the Raiders 21-3 in the regular season and 38-20 in the Class 5A, Section 1 finals.

However, Northfield upset the Huskies 15-3 in the section quarterfinals two years ago, when Owatonna was the No. 1 seed.
