Edina at Minnetonka
7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 6

Metro West subdistrict rivals Edina and Minnetonka are undefeated, but neither has faced elite competition, yet.

The Hornets (5-0, 1-0) haven’t played a team ranked in the latest Class 6A poll, while the Skippers (5-0, 2-0) have played just one -- Maple Grove, whom Minnetonka beat 28-21 in Week 3.

Edina is averaging 29.8 points per game while holding opponents to 8.0. The Hornets defense was key in a 31-14 victory over Shakopee last week, as senior linebacker Patrick Peterson returned an interception for a touchdown.

The Minnetonka defense is nearly as stout (9.8 points per game), and the Skippers are as impressive on offense (32 points per game). They have been paced by senior running back Adam Livingston, who has 277 rushing yards and five touchdowns the last two weeks.

Both teams are undefeated in subdistrict play, but the No. 2-6A Skippers are tied with top-ranked Eden Prairie for first place in the league standings, just a half-game ahead of the No. 3-6A Hornets.

The teams have split their last 10 meetings, with the Skippers winning 21-17 last year.
