Murray County Central vs. New Ulm Cathedral
4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23

A pair of unfamiliar opponents will start getting used to each other on Saturday, as Murray County Central hosts New Ulm Cathedral.

The No. 4-1A Rebels (3-0, 2-0) this season moved into the Southwest East subdistrict, where the Greyhounds (2-1, 1-0) reside. The teams are also section rivals after New Ulm Cathedral finds itself new to Class 1A, Section 3.

Murray County Central suffered six losing seasons before reaching the state tournament last fall. The Rebels have continued their impressive play this fall, including a come-from-behind victory to defeat Sleepy Eye 27-22 last week. Junior running back Ethan Swanson scored two rushing touchdowns, caught another and returned a kick for a TD in the game.

New Ulm Cathedral recorded its first loss of the season last week, as a last-minute field goal lifted Lac qui Parle Valley to a 37-35 win. Running backs David Berg (156 rushing yards, 4 TDs) and Colton Braulick (154 rushing, 1 TD) were dynamic in the game and look to carry over their success on the ground in this matchup.
