Recap: St. Michael-Albertville failed to score in the first quarter against previously undefeated Elk River, but the Knights made big plays to take a 17-0 halftime lead. The home team didn’t look back from there en route to victory behind four combined touchdowns from Isaiah Weston and Eric Sjelin.

Key of the game: Big plays by the Knights’ Weston. He gave St. Michael-Albertville (3-1) a double-digit lead in the second quarter with a 59-yard touchdown reception. At the start of the second half, the wide receiver returned a kickoff 98 yards to stretch the Knights’ advantage to 24 points.

One thing to know: Elk River came into the contest having won its first three games and averaging 50.3 points per game behind a high-powered rushing attack. But save for a 65-yard outburst from Nick Rice, the Knights contained the Elks much of the game.

St. Michael-Albertville locked down Elk River's potent rushing attack Friday night, cruising to a 37-12 victory.

Wide receiver Isaiah Weston provided plenty of offense for the Knights, reeling in a 59-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter. The lanky speedster then took a third quarter kickoff return 98 yards for his second touchdown of the day.

Knights running back Eric Sjelin also contributed with two touchdowns.

Elk River's offense couldn't capitalize in big moments. The Elk turned the ball over on downs multiple times, once in the second quarter due to a fumble and again in the fourth quarter after their quarterback was sacked. Elk River running back Nick Rice provided a highlight for the road team with a 65-yard touchdown.
