Game at a glance

Recap: Malik Gaillard hit Martelius Hughes for a 5-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-3 with 1:47 remaining in the fourth quarter, and the Orioles did just enough to hand the mistake-prone Crimson their first loss of the season. Maple Grove (6-1, 2-1) missed two extra points and turned the ball over twice in the red zone, but still had a chance to win on a 30-yard field goal attempt as time expired. The kick sailed wide right. Justin Ekiyor scored two rushing touchdowns in the second half for the Orioles (5-2, 4-0).

Key to the game: The Maple Grove mistakes were glaring, but the Crimson looked to be in control with a 26-20 lead with 5:48 remaining in the fourth quarter. That’s when Gaillard drove the Orioles 80 yards in less than four minutes to set up the winning score.
