LAFAYETTE, IND. – Preliminary autopsy results indicate a Purdue football player from and former Roseville High School standout whose body was found in a northern Indiana lake died from an accidental drowning.

The Lafayette (Ind.) Journal and Courier said the autopsy on Sean Matti, 22, was conducted Wednesday in Indianapolis. It said toxicology results were pending.

State conservation officers say the Shoreview native was last seen about 5 p.m. Sunday swimming during a party with friends on Lake Freeman, about 15 miles northeast of Lafayette. His body was found Tuesday morning about 20 yards from shore.

Matti, a senior, had been a walk-on running back with Purdue's football team since 2007. He was a two-time all-state linebacker for Roseville.
