The Class 1A boys’ cross-country state champion is Matt Steiger of LaCrescent. Steiger, with a time of 15.44.8, bested Declan Dahlberg of Mounds Park Academy in a close finish mindful of last year, when Dahlberg nipped Steiger for the title. Third place this year went to Geno Uhrbom of Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin.
Perham won the Class 1A boys' team title. St. James finished in second place and Mankato Loyola/Cleveland placed third.

Tierney Wolfgram of Math & Science Academy in Woodbury ran away with the Class 1A girls' championship.
Ninth-grader Tierney Wolfgram of Math and Science Academy in Woodbury won the Class 1A girls’ individual title for the second consecutive year. Wolfgram finished with a time of 17:31.6 over the 5K course.
Seventh-grader Lauren Ping of Winona Cotter finished second, followed by older sister Grace, a freshman, in third. Grace Ping was the 2015 champion as a seventh-grader.
Perham won the Class 1A girls’ team title, with Winona Cotter finishing second and Annandale placing third.

Khalid Hussein of Wayzata won the Class 2A boys' individual title.
Senior Khalid Hussein of Wayzata won the Class 2A boys' race. Acer Iverson of Roseville finished second and Luke Labatte of Rosemount placed third.
Hussein, whose winning time over the 5K course was 15:22.6, led the Trojans to the team title as well. Stillwater finished second and Edina third.

Emily Covert of Minneapolis Washburn crossed the finish line.
Emily Covert of Minneapolis Washburn won the Class 2A girls’ cross-country state championship Saturday at St. Olaf College in Northfield.
Covert, a junior, finished the 5-kilometer course in a time of 17:30.1. Anna Fenske of Farmington finished second and Emma Atkinson of Wayzata placed third.
Wayzata won the girls' 2A team championship, followed by Edina in second and St. Michael-Albertville in third.
