Onte Burns, Robbinsdale CooperThe senior linebacker played a key role in the Hawks' 41-34 win over Irondale. He finished with 25 tackles, bringing his season total to 104 -- fourth best in the state -- and recorded his sixth interception of the season.

Shawn Buysse, Minneota: The junior linebacker made 15 tackles in a 48-14 win over Lac Qui Parle Valley.

Kelby Jaenisch, MACCRAY: Jaenisch posted his fifth game with 20 or more tackles in a 64-41 loss to Edgerton/Ellsworth. The junior linebacker finished with 24 tackles, raising his total to a state-best 141.

Jonah Johnson, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton: The senior linebacker made 15 tackles in a 46-22 win over Hills-Beaver Creek.

Ryan Kuechle, Mankato East: The junior linebacker led the Cougars with 14 tackles, helping to hold Faribault to just one touchdown in a 29-6 win.

Kris Kurtz, Mound Westonka: Behind the play of Kurtz, White Hawks edged St. Paul Central 37-34. The junior linebacker and made 15 tackles and had an interception.

Braden Tyrrell, Staples-Motley: The senior linebacker registered a season-high 21 tackles in a 20-12 win over Pillager.

MIchael Werner, Minneapolis South: Werner had 13 tackles and one sack in a 14-7 win over St. Agnes, leading a Tigers defense that held the Aggies scoreless in the second half.

Odell Wilson, Minneapolis North: The Polars defense held Concordia Academy to just 120 total yards in a 34-0 win, while the senior had 13 tackles and one sack.

Ben Zayzay, Fridley: The senior defensive back finished with 18 tackles in a 27-18 win over Providence Academy.
