Defensive Player of the Week revealed

Who was voted as the top performer of Week 2?

Player of the Week winner

Austin Springer, St. Michael-Albertville. While his team doubled up Blaine on the scoreboard, the senior linebacker stood tall on defense, tallying 19 tackles and two sacks.

Player of the Week candidates

Taj Best, Irondale. In a 35-14 win over North St. Paul, the junior linebacker made a team-best 16 tackles.

Hayden Dunleavy, Andover. The senior linebacker made 14 tackles and recorded 2.5 sacks to lead Andover past Rogers 34-20.

Calem Eugene, Wayzata. Despite Wayzata's 21-6 loss to Minnetonka at home, the senior linebacker tallied 16 total tackles, 13 of which were solo.

Brandon Moeller, Canby. The senior fullback led Canby’s defense with 15 tackles — 6 more than his closest teammate — to defeat Ortonville 20-14.

Dominic Phillips, Holy Family. The junior linebacker helped the Fire come from behind in the third quarter and take the lead, as Phillips made 14 tackles and helped keep Litchfield off the scoreboard in the fourth quarter. The Fire won 17-14.

Drew Rozanski, Rockford. Despite Rockford's 22-12 loss to Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, the senior linebacker made a team-high 19 tackles and one sack for the Rockets defense.

Adam Skogman, Maple Grove. The senior defensive tackle and his team kept Prior Lake off the scoreboard for over 44 minutes, as Skogman produced 11 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in the 9-6 win.

Mason Staggemeyer, Caledonia. The senior linebacker led Caledonia’s defense with 14 solo tackles in a 34-27 win over Triton.

Elijah Sterner, Lakeview. The junior linebacker helped hold Lac qui Parle Valley to just seven points until the fourth quarter. Sterner recorded 25 tackles, though Lakeview lost 14-12.
