Defensive Player of the Week unveiled

Tucker Budreau, Zimmerman. The defensive lineman finished with with 13 tackles and helped hold Delano to just six first-half points in a 28-24 win.

Cory Krotzer, Farmington. The senior linebacker contributed one sack, a forced fumble and nine tackles in a 22-20 win over Woodbury.

Kris Kurtz, Mound Westonka. In a 19-17 win over St. Paul Highland Park, the junior linebacker tallied 14 tackles and one sack as the White Hawks allowed only three points after halftime.

John Landry, Benilde-St. Margaret’s. The junior was key in helping the defending Class 4A champs start strong with a 28-14 win over Waconia. He sacked the Wildcats quarterback to force a fumble, which was recovered and returned for a touchdown to give the by the Red Knights an early lead. Landry contributed five tackles and two sacks in the game.

Nathan Lusty, Alexandria. The senior linebacker tallied a team-high 21 tackles in Alexandria's 34-28 victory over Andover. Lusty and his defensive teammates held off the Huskies offense to keep the score tied late in the game, allowing the Cardinals to secure a win with a fourth-quarter TD.

Jake Maus, Chanhassen. In a 29-10 win over Robbinsdale Armstrong, Maus tallied 13 tackles and forced a fumble.

Tyler Ososki, Blaine. The senior linebacker started the season with an impressive performance. Ososki amassed a team-high 19 tackles, and had a sack and one forced fumble in Blaine's 53-28 win over Stillwater.

Micah Roane, Chaska. The senior defensive lineman made 10 tackles in a 24-17 victory. Roane and the Hawks defense kept Coon Rapids scoreless in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime, where Chaska won it.

Nolan Schmitz, St. Michael-Albertville. In a 45-21 win over Mounds View, the senior linebacker forced two fumbles and contributed 11 tackles.

Jackson Schwartz, Mankato West. The senior linebacker recorded six tackles, one sack and an interception as the Scarlets shut out Rochester Century 28-0.

Sam Wagner-Lund, Orono. The junior did all he could to get the ball in Orono's hands, nabbing two interceptions and tallying nine tackles in a 49-21 win over Bloomington Jefferson.
