Cooper junior receiver/free safety Phoenix Sproles recently picked up offers from Northern Iowa and Illinois State, bringing his total to 11.

Cooper junior Phoenix Sproles has been racking up college football offers. Sproles, a 6-foot, 175-pound receiver/free safety who has run a 4.5-second 40-yard dash, recently picked up offers from Northern Iowa and Illinois State, bringing his total to 11.

Tough out

Hopkins senior catcher/infielder Morgan Holmes has been tough on opposing pitchers through the first four games. Holmes has nine base hits in his first 14 at-bats for a .643 batting average and led the state with three homers through Tuesday.

No power shortage

Buffalo junior third baseman Emily Hansen still has two seasons before she can join the University of Minnesota softball team, to which she has given a verbal commitment, but she’s hitting the ball like she’s trying to earn a spot right now. Hansen hit four home runs in the Bison’s first five games to lead the state in that category.

Prep stars honored

Benilde-St. Margaret’s offensive lineman Eric Wilson and Maple Grove quarterback Brad Davison will be among 10 senior high school football players recognized at the 10th Annual Minnesota Football Honors awards on May 7 at U.S. Bank Stadium. The awards honor high school, college and professional football players and coaches. Tickets can be purchased at www.nffmn.org.
