Elk River senior Gabi Haack added to her list of accolades this season when she received the Ms. Basketball award Friday in Northfield at the Minnesota Girls Basketball All-Star Series.
Haack, who will attend Bradley University in the fall, led the Elks to their first girls’ basketball state title this season with a 32-0 season. Elk River defeated Hopkins 64-60 in the Class 4A state championship game. Haack scored a team-high 25 points on 8 of 9 shooting from the field in the victory.
Haack, who averaged 26.1 points this season, garnered the Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year honors and the Gatorade Player of the Year. Haack set the Elk River school record for points in a game this season when she scored 45 against Moorhead on Jan. 28 in an 87-68 win.
Finalists for the Ms. Basketball award included Lakeville North’s Temi Carda, Mountain Iron-Buhl's Chelsea Mason, Roseau’s Kiley Borowicz and St. Michael-Albertville’s Rae Johnson.
