The 6-foot-6, 280-pound tackle and son of former Gophers tight end Jay Carroll already has 22 offers

If college scholarship offers are an accurate indicator, Edina sophomore Quinn Carroll could be the next great offensive lineman to come out of Minnesota.

The 6-foot-6, 280-pound tackle and son of former Gophers tight end Jay Carroll already has 22 offers, including from Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, USC, Florida St., Georgia and Miami, as well as eight Big 10 schools: Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan St., Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin.

Carroll has recruiting trips to Alabama, Clemson and Georgia planned for late March.

Making a statement

Eden Prairie forward Naomi Rogge was disappointed that she failed to make the Star Tribune’s 2017 girls’ hockey all-metro first team.

Rogge, who has committed to Minnesota-Duluth, was a Ms. Hockey finalist. She was named to the all-metro second team.

Rather that make her displeasure known, Rogge let her play in the Class 2A state tournament do the talking for her. She led the bracket in scoring with five goals and four assists as the Eagles finished third. She had a hat trick in a 6-4 victory over Forest Lake in the quarterfinals and two goals and three assists in a 6-0 victory over Hill-Murray in the third-place game.

Rogge concluded her high school career with six goals and 13 total points in six state tournament games over two seasons.
