Defensive Player of the Week: Week 7

Vote for your Week 7 Defensive Player of the Week.

Players are only included in the Player of the Week poll if their stats are entered on the Football Hub. If any coaches or members of their coaching staff would like to be set up to enter stats, please email john.kelsey@sportsengine.com. Stats must be entered by noon each Monday to be included in the POTW poll.

Defensive Player of the Week Candidates:

Isaac Hennen, Minneota LB, junior: Minneota's star running back made a huge impact on the defensive side of the ball, finishing with 16 tackles and an interception as the Vikings topped Canby 35-19. Hennen also scored four touchdowns on offense for good measure. 

Max Bautch, Blaine LB, senior: Bautch led all players with 14 tackles and three sacks and forced a fumble as Blaine beat Andover 31-28. The senior, who has an offer from North Dakota State, has recorded 72 tackles through seven games. 

Ethan Rinke, Fergus Falls DB, senior: Rinke tallied 19 tackles as the Otters shut out Park Rapids and moved to 7-0 on the year. Fergus Falls will take on Perham in week 8 to before moving into section playoffs as one of the favorites in Class 4A. 

Thomas Hennessy, Lewiston-Altura LB, senior (winner): Hennessy stuffed the stat sheet in a 22-16 win over Goodhue, finishing with 13 tackles, a sack, two forced fumbles, an interception, and a safety. The senior has recorded 80 tackles for the Cardinals this season. 

Chandler Kurth, Hutchinson LB, senior: Kurth racked up 15 tackles and picked off a pass in a 41-21 win over Holy Family. Kurth leads the undefeated Tigers with 59 tackles. 

Eli Weber, Dawson-Boyd DB, senior: Weber recorded four tackles and three interceptions, including one that was returned for a touchdown, in a 62-14 win over Ortonville. Dawson-Boyd moved to 5-2 on the year and will take on Adrian in week 8. 

Clay Gardner, Providence Academy LB, senior: Gardner led all players with 19 tackles in a 20-12 defeat of Minneapolis Patrick Henry. The senior also forced a fumble. 

Noah Gindorff, Crosby-Ironton LB, senior: Gindorff continued his domination on both sides of the ball in a 36-15 win over Pine City. The North Dakota State commit recorded 13 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and an interception. He was also responsible for four touchdowns on offense. 

Sean McGuire, Hillcrest Lutheran LB, senior: McGuire finished with six tackles, four sacks, and a fumble recovery in a 47-20 win over Underwood. The Comets moved to 6-1 with the win. 

Dylan Edwards, Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart LB, junior: Edwards recorded 11 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble in a week 7 game against Renville County West. The junior linebacker has 48 tackles through seven games.
