Friday's roundup: Hopkins picks up Homecoming upset over No. 9 Edina

Defensive end Boye Mafe recorded a sack and forced a fumble and recovered it with 1:03 left to seal Hopkins’ 11-14 homecoming upset victory over No. 9 Edina.

The Royals scored 21 points in the second half, helped by two touchdowns by Morgan Holmes. The senior quarterback scored the game-winning points on a 5-yard run with 3:23 left. He got the comeback started with a 5-yard TD pass to Tyler Schebloom early in the second half.

Malik Lofton tied the score late in the third quarter on a 23-yard run.

Brock Boltmann found Jimmy Connell for a 7-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the game. Brett Hufendick scored on a 9-yard run late in the first quarter to give the Hornets the early lead.

Mounds View 13, Roseville 7: Xavier Myles scored a 1-yard touchdown in overtime to lift the host Mustangs past the Raiders. Luke Bouchart threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Levi Brown as time expired in the first half.

Anoka 39, Andover 30: Jared Wilber and Ollie Nigh combined to score five touchdowns, leading the visiting Tornadoes past the Huskies. Wilber got the scoring started with a 4-yard run midway through the first quarter. He threw a touchdown pass to Ryan Wesp with 41 seconds left in the first half. Nigh’s three scores came on runs shorter than 10 yards, including the game-winning score with 4:18 left. Lucas Jerylo kicked 29-yard field goal with 35 seconds left to seal the victory. Conner Knoepfle threw three touchdown passes, including two to Vince Clark, for the Huskies. Michael Wandmaker ran in a score and caught Knoepfle’s other scoring pass.

East Ridge 30, Stillwater 7: Dominik London scored two touchdowns and Grant Ryerse made a 55-yard field goal to help the host No. 7 Raptors defeat the Ponies. London bookended the scoring with a 30-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter and 23-yard touchdown run with 3:16 left in the game. Ty Okada ran in a touchdown and threw for another for the Raptors. Matt Crowell scored for the Ponies in the fourth quarter.

SMB 31, New Life Academy 19: Jake Lundquist returned a fumble 9 yards to the end zone and Siegel Howard ran in a 21-yard score in a 20-second span to help the visiting Wolfpack top the Eagles. The Wolfpack pulled away in the third quarter, but a 75-yard fumble return by Ryan Murphy got the Eagles within five points with 8:57 left. Howard’s second touchdown sealed the victory with 2:28 left.

St. Paul Johnson 22, St. Paul Highland Park 20: Daniel Foster threw two touchdown passes and ran in another to lead the host Governors past the Scots. Foster started the Governors’ scoring with a 35-yard touchdown pass to Longtoua Yang. He later ran in an 18-yard score to put the Governors ahead for good in the third quarter, then threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Johnathan Sinkfield in the fourth quarter. Amitri Collins-Westlund scored on runs of 20, 60 and 5 yards for the Scots.

St. Thomas Academy 26, Simley 0: Brendan McFadden scored three touchdowns to lead the host Cadets past the Spartans. The Cadets defense forced three second-half turnovers.
