It took Totino-Grace one quarter of play to do so, but the consensus top-ranked team in Class 6A did exactly what an elite program should against an opponent with just one victory in three games.

Totino-Grace (4-0) dominated, specifically on defense, en route to a 36-7 victory over Osseo (1-3). The Eagles’ front seven recorded six sacks on the combination of Orioles quarterbacks Greg Arrell and Martelius Hughes.

With 4 minutes, 54 seconds left in the first half, Arrell was strip-sacked, and the Eagles’ Kameron White picked up the ball and ran 35 yards for a touchdown. It was one of three Totino-Grace takeaways and put the Eagles up 14-7.

“Our defense is playing fast,” Totino-Grace coach Jeff Ferguson said. “Our guys have a nice energy about them and they are really focused.”

The Eagles eventually found their way on the ground behind senior running back Ivan Burlak, who rushed for 126 yards and scored the team’s first touchdown in the second quarter.

The other half of the Eagles’ two-headed rushing attack, Gayflor Flomo, added 76 total yards and scored two touchdowns.

“I love the offensive line,” Burlak said with a shout. “If they didn’t do what they do then we couldn’t run like we do.”

First report

Ivan Burlak

Senior Ivan Burlak rushed for 126 yards and one touchdown, and No. 1 ranked Totino-Grace (4-0) defeated Osseo 36-7 at Osseo High School.

Gayflor Flomo, the Eagles' second component to its two-pronged rushing attack, gained 76 total yards and scored two touchdowns. He scored the first on a 10-yard reception from Kyle Halverson, and the other on a 4-yard rush.

The Orioles (1-3) scored first on a 1-yard run by Martelius Hughes that was set up by a 32-yard Karon Harmon reception and two pass interference calls against the Eagles.

But Totino-Grace cleaned up its penalties and scored 36 unanswered points.

Harmon, a senior receiver, finished with five catches for 56 yards receiving.

Check back later for more on the game.
