Malachi Johnson, Benilde-St. Margaret's LB, senior: Johnson finished with five tackles, two sacks, an interception and a pass defended as the Red Knights rolled Irondale 42-13 to move to 2-1.

Jack Larson, Belle Plaine LB, senior: Larson recorded eight tackles and set the mark for most sacks in a game this season with five as Belle Plaine cruised to a 41-24 win over Jordan. As a team, the Tigers recorded nine sacks in the Week 3 win.

Elijah Colbeck, Fergus Falls DB, senior (winner): Colbeck became just the 15th player in state history to intercept four passes in a single game, accomplished the feat in a 12-6 win over Detroit Lakes. Joshua Stougard (International Falls, 2006) is the only player to record five interceptions in a game.

Kellan Johnson, Murray County Central DB, senior: Johnson picked off a pass, forced two fumbles and recovered a fumble in a Week 3 defeat of Ortonville. The Rebels defense has allowed only 28 points through three games, helping the team remain unbeaten to start the season.

Shea Gerrety, Blaine LB, senior: Gerrety's 12 tackles and three sacks helped the Bengals stay undefeated and top rival Centennial 42-14 in week 3. The senior linebacker leads Blaine with 30 tackles on the year.

Adam Irvin, Rochester Mayo DL, junior: Irvin led all players with 21 tackles in a shutout of Austin. Irvin also recorded a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Mitchell Kartes, St. Michael-Albertville DB, junior: With 2:21 remaining in the game and his team leading 16-12, Kartes intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown to seal a victory over Rogers. It was the second interception of the game for Kartes, who also made seven tackles.

Mikel Martin, Roseville LB, junior: Martin provided half of Roseville's offense from the defensive side of the ball, scoring two touchdowns in a 28-6 win over Woodbury. The junior linebacker returned an interception for a touchdown, returned a fumble recovery for a touchdown and sacked the quarterback twice.

Jacob Streit, Eden Valley-Watkins DL, senior: Streit led his team with eight tackles and 3.5 sacks as the Eagles beat Rockford 21-14 to move to 3-0 on the year.

Jake Fischer, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton LB, junior: Entering the season, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton hadn't won a game since 2012. After a 20-18 win over Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in Week 3, the Knights now have a winning record. Fischer played a large role in the win, finishing with 20 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
