Offensive Player of the Week: Week 3

Stats must be entered by noon each Monday to be included in the POTW poll. 

Offensive Player of the Week Candidates:

Ollie Nigh, Anoka RB, senior (winner): The Tornadoes rode their senior back to their first win of the season in 25-11 upset over defending Class 6A champions Osseo. Nigh had 29 carries for 270 yards and two touchdowns for Anoka. 

Peter Nelson, St. Cloud Apollo WR, senior: Nelson caught nine passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns in a 48-42 loss to Alexandria. He also made seven tackles and intercepted a pass on defense. Nelson has 415 receiving yards and six touchdowns through three games for the Eagles. 

Micah Christenson, Alexandria RB, senior: Christenson carried the ball 20 times for 266 yards (13.3 yards per carry) and four touchdowns in the shootout win over Apollo. Christenson's 545 rushing yards have been a big reason why Alexandria has started the season 3-0. 

Jack Anderson, Academy of Holy Angels RB, junior: Holy Angels racked up 487 rushing yards in a 56-34 Week 3 win over Bloomington Jefferson and Anderson accounted for 213 of those. The junior running back scored four touchdowns on the ground and caught a pass for 17 yards. 

Carter Kopet, Cleveland QB, junior: Kopet went 12-for-13 passing for 204 yards and five touchdowns to lead Cleveland to a 76-0 win over Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman. The junior quarterback has thrown 17 touchdown passes in just three games as the Cleveland offense has averaged 59 points per game. 

Jalen Frye, Mahtomedi RB, senior: Frye needed just 18 carries to rush for 236 yards and three touchdowns in a 63-28 rout of Henry Sibley. Frye has averaged 185.3 rushing yards per game as the Zephyrs have jumped out to a perfect 3-0 record. 

Garrett Olson, Minnetonka QB, senior: Olson finished 17-for-23 passing for 267 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-6 win over Shakopee. He also carried the ball 11 times for 48 yards. Olson and the Skippers will put their perfect record on the line against Wayzata in Week 4. 

Brandon Alt, Park of Cottage Grove QB, senior: Alt threw for 310 yards and rushed for 81 yards in a 31-27 win over St. Thomas Academy. The senior quarterback was 20-for-30 passing and threw three touchdowns passes. Alt has thrown for 743 yards through three games. 

Peyton Syverson, Waubun QB, senior: Syverson managed to get on the scoreboard in three different ways in a 46-6 Week 3 win over Clearbrook-Gonvick. He finished with 64 yards passing and a touchdown, 19 carries for 208 yards and three touchdowns, and even caught a 25-yard touchdown pass. 

Griffin Lanoue, Rosemount WR, senior: Lanoue scored all three times he touched the ball on offense for the Irish, catching three passes for 108 yards and three TDs. He also returned three punts for 53 yards as Rosemount topped Eastview 45-0 and moved to 3-0.
