The second week of the high school football season brings about district play for many teams across Minnesota, as is the case when Woodbury (0-1) travels to Cretin-Derham Hall (1-0) for a Friday night East Metro District Blue Division battle.
The Royals had some surprise success a year ago, pulling off their first winning season since 2011. Their 6-3 overall record included a 19-14 triumph over the Raiders in the league opener.
If Woodbury is to have another winning season, it must quickly get back on track after being upset by Eastview 23-8 last week.
Cretin-Derham Hall recorded a dramatic 19-14 victory over Lakeville South in Week 1 thanks to a Hail Mary touchdown.
The Raiders and Royals may have started the season differently, but both are in search of victory to help kick off district play on a positive. Their matchup should include an added edge of intensity, which is one reason why it is our Top Game of the Week.
