Chris Lindquist recently resigned as football coach at St. Francis after bringing stability and success to the program during his nine seasons. He arrived in 2007 as the third coach in as many seasons. The Saints went a combined 15-6 the past two seasons.

“I’m proud of how far we came,” Lindquist said. “It was great having successful teams the past couple years — that was pretty special — but I’ll also remember the kids who kept working hard during the seasons where we didn’t have as many victories.”

Lindquist, father of three young sons, will coach in the St. Francis youth ranks next season. He has not ruled out a return to high school coaching.

Honoring Taylor

The Roseville gymnastics team dedicated its Jan. 14 meet to honor the family of Taylor Grace Nguyen and the memory of the 3-year-old honorary team member last season who died of leukemia.

Both the host Raiders and Cretin-Derham Hall wore shirts with matching logos to bring awareness to childhood leukemia. The Roseville High School’s graphics arts department provided 96 shirts. The Nguyen family traveled from their Brainerd home for the event.

Milestone on the mat

Osseo junior Mitch Lewison recently recorded his 100th career victory as well as his 50th pin.
