Defensive Player of the Week: Week 6

Defensive Player of the Week Candidates:

Dimitry Greco, Academy of Holy Angels LB, junior: Greco recorded six tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a blocked kick in a 14-7 week 6 win over Waconia. The junior leads the Stars defense with 6.5 sacks on the season. 

Connor Hoff, Litchfield LB, senior (winner): The heart and soul of the Litchfield defense, Hoff came up with 18 tackles and a fumble recovery in a loss to Hutchinson. Hoff has recorded double-digit tackles in every game this season and now has 102 on the year. 

Dalton Kostad, Dawson-Boyd DE, senior: Kostad came up with 10 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, and even blocked a kick as Dawson-Boyd topped Lakeview 31-18. Kostad leads the Blackjacks in sacks and tackles for loss this season. 

Charles Schwartz, Mankato West LB, senior: The Scarlets defense had no problem shutting down the high-powered Red Wing passing attack in a 44-12 week 6 win. Schwartz finished with eight tackles and 2.5 sacks to help the #1 team in Class 5A remain unbeaten. 

Thomas Barber, Robbinsdale Armstrong LB, senior: Barber recorded 24 tackles (17 solo) as Armstrong nearly knocked off unbeaten Spring Lake Park in week 6. The future Gopher also ran for 96 yards and two touchdowns in the 28-23 loss.

Sam Kolpin, Wayzata DB, senior: Kolpin made five tackles and intercepted two passes, including one that he returned 35 yards for a touchdown, as Wayzata beat Hopkins 33-20. Kolpin leads the Trojans with four interceptions this season. 

Joe Puglisi, Woodbury LB, senior: Puglisi was all over the field in a 27-20 win over White Bear Lake. He finished with eight tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, and an interception as the Royals moved to 5-1 on the year. 

Beau Pauly, Becker LB, senior: The Becker defense posted their second straight shutout and Pauly had a big hand in it. The senior had eight tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, and an interception in the 47-0 win over Milaca. Pauly added a rushing touchdown and 50 receiving yards on the offensive side of the ball. 

Sam Schlueter, Mayer Lutheran DL, senior: The Minnesota recruit will likely play on the offensive side of the ball at the next level but he made a huge impact on defense in a 41-0 win over Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity in week 6. Schlueter finished with eight tackles and two sacks as the Crusaders moved to 5-1 on the year. 

Aaron Flink, Spring Lake Park DB, senior: Flink recorded six tackles and added two more interceptions to his season total as Spring Lake Park beat Armstrong 28-23. Flink is among the state leaders with seven interceptions through six games.
