Spinning continues to get Payton Bowdry extra cheers. The South High School freshman running back used his football moves on a different stage, though, last Saturday night.

As the bass voice of a four-man singing group, The Romantics, Bowdry serenaded and danced for hundreds of delighted fans.

The young men from the Southside Village Boys and Girls Club were selected as one of three groups that would entertain the crowd at the For The Kids! Benefit held at Target Field. The black-tie event raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities.

The Romantics, made up of Semaj Okongwu, Rio Jones, Maurice Brooks and Bowdry, spent most of the night rehearsing their songs: "Earth Angel" and "My Girl." Here's a clip of the group of teenagers from South and Washburn High Schools. Bowdry is in the black jacket.

Noteworthy: South's 20 points against Eden Prairie last season were the most the Eagles gave up in the regular season. South also seeks to join Eden Prairie in the Lake Conference.
