The departures continue from the North Suburban Conference.

Chisago Lakes High School will join the Mississippi 8 Conference starting with the 2013-14 school year.

The school follows North Branch and St. Francis. The remaining schools in the North Suburban Conference are Benilde-St. Margaret's, Columbia Heights, Fridley, Irondale, Robbinsdale Cooper, St. Louis Park, Spring Lake Park and Totino-Grace.

However, the Benilde-St. Margaret's boys' hockey team and the Totino-Grace football team will no longer play in the conference due to issues with competitive balance.

• Blaine activities director Neil Fletcher will take the same position at Chisago Lakes.

Setting the pace

Two performances at last week's Class 2A, Section 5 track and field championship meet rank as the best this spring. The Osseo girls' 4x200-meter relay team clocked a winning time of 1 minute, 40.95 seconds, tops among reported times. Irondale senior Kianna Carter took the top spot among female 400 runners by sprinting to victory in 56.63 seconds.

Leiser takes Mounds View hoops job

Dave Leiser, a long-time Mounds View boys' basketball assistant coach, was named head coach. Leiser takes over for Zig Kauls, who retired after 45 seasons with the program. Leiser is one of Kauls' former players.

Johnson commits to Mavericks

Anoka hockey forward Katie Johnson committed to play at Minnesota State Mankato. Johnson, a member of the Star Tribune All-Metro third team, scored 24 goals and tied for the team lead.
