Wadena-Deer Creek falls to Upsala/Swanville

The Patriots picked up their fourth win of the year at Wadena

The Upsala/Swanville Area Patriots football team traveled to Wadena to take on the Wolverines Friday, Oct. 14.

The Patriots played well defeating Wadena 27-12.

After a scoreless first, USA got on the board when quarterback Eric Freiler hooked up with Colton Kruzel for a 29-yard touchdown pass.

Later in the second, Tren Dinius scored on a 31-yard touchdown run. A failed two-point conversion left the score at 12-0.

The third quarter was a busy one with both teams scoring. Mitch Lange scored the first touchdown of the quarter with a 14-yard touchdown run.

Freiler would throw his second touchdown of the night with a 93-yard strike to Tren Dinius. Nick Freiler added the extra point to finish off the scoring for USA.

USA picked up 503 yards of total offense with Lange carrying the load with 188 rushing yards on 29 carries. Austin Mollner picked up 73 yards on nine carries while Dinius picked up 44 on two carries.

Quarterback Freiler completed five passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns.

The win brought USA to 4-3 on the season and will host their final regular season game against KMS at Upsala at 3:30 p.m.
