Tally so far: Jim 12, David 6.

SHAKOPEE (5-0) AT HOLY ANGELS (5-0), 7 P.M.

David says: Holy Angels 21, Shakopee 14

In the midst of its best season since a state tournament appearance in 2004, Holy Angels (No. 8, Class 4A) can make a real statement with a victory against Shakopee, ranked ninth in Class 5A. Multiple talented running backs will allow the Stars to keep the ball, eat the clock and wear down the Sabers. And the defense can protect leads.

Jim says: Shakopee 35, Holy Angels 21

Try to find a more underrated undefeated team than Shakopee. The Sabers and their funky single-wing offense have won 12 consecutive Missota Conference games. Precision and execution on offense and super-stud linebacker Nick McBeain (62 tackles) will be enough for Shakopee to run the streak to 13.

LAKEVILLE SOUTH (5-0) AT LAKEVILLE NORTH (5-0), 7 P.M.

David says: Lakeville South 28, Lakeville North 21

It gets no bigger or better in the south metro -- maybe anywhere in the metro -- than this. Get past the community rivalry hoopla and you are left with two good football teams. It's a night for big players to make big plays, so watch for Cougars QB Mitch Leidner to rise to the occasion.

Jim says: Lakeville North 33, Lakeville South 30

While Lakeville South was receiving the preseason plaudits, North -- with 12 returning starters and a diverse and balanced offense -- was watching and plotting, waiting for its opportunity. The chip on its shoulders (and running back Brandon Morgan) will help the North win back the schools' traveling trophy.

MOUNDS VIEW (4-1) AT WHITE BEAR LAKE (4-1), 7 P.M.

David says: White Bear Lake 24, Mounds View 19

With the Bears back on track this fall, one of the metro area's more spirited rivalry games gets a jolt. Yes, it's still your father's White Bear Lake offense, throwing the fewest number of passes allowed by state law. But when it's working, the Bears' veer is a winning formula. It's working now and will be too much for Mounds View.

Jim says: Mounds View 27, White Bear Lake 17

The blood is not as bad between these two since Mounds View has won seven meetings in a row, but it's still bubbling under the surface. Both teams love to run; both are known for being physical. Mounds View's commitment to defense and ability to strike quickly will be the difference.
