Roundup: Re-kick makes Shakopee a winner over Chanhassen

 MISSOTA
• SHAKOPEE 17, CHANHASSEN 15: With time winding down, Shakopee had its go-ahead field goal attempt blocked at the line. But after officials determined the ball was not properly set, the down was replayed, allowing junior kicker Alexi Johnson a second chance. He didn’t miss, nailing a 23-yard field goal with 10 seconds left to give the Sabers the victory.

SUBURBAN EAST
• STILLWATER 17, WHITE BEAR LAKE 14: In a back-and-forth game, senior kicker Sam Pearson was the difference-maker. Pearson kicked a 27-yard field goal in the closing seconds Friday to lift the Ponies to a victory and boost their record to 2-0. Stillwater rallied from a 14-7 deficit in the second half. Nate Ricci had a pair of touchdown passes in the win.

• EAST RIDGE 28, FOREST LAKE 10: Senior running back Val Huerta had 19 carries for 201 yards and two touchdowns to power East Ridge past Forest Lake. East Ridge held Forest Lake to 127 total yards of offense.

SOUTH SUBURBAN
• LAKEVILLE SOUTH 28, EASTVIEW 14: Gophers recruit Mitch Leidner completed 14 of 21 passes for 242 yards and three touchdown passes, lifting the Cougars to the victory. His favorite target was Matt Heller, who had 118 yards receiving and a pair of touchdown catches.

• LAKEVILLE NORTH 45, APPLE VALLEY 19: Lakeville North jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a victory over Apple Valley. Senior quarterback Trey Heid completed 16 of 22 passes for 248 yards and two touchdowns and added two field goals in the winning effort. Joel Oxton snagged four catches for 117 yards and a touchdown for the Panthers.

WRIGHT COUNTY
• HUTCHINSON 35, ANNANDALE 28: Hutchinson rallied from a 28-0 second-half deficit to stun Annandale with the game’s final 35 points, including junior quarterback McKinley Anderson’s 5-yard touchdown run in overtime. Anderson also connected with Mitch Petersen on a 40-yard TD pass with less than four minutes left in regulation to tie the score. Annandale committed four turnovers in the fourth quarter and another in overtime.

CLASSIC SUBURBAN
• SOUTH ST. PAUL 51, NORTH ST. PAUL 0: Senior running back Sam Sura is picking up right where he left off last year. He had 195 yards rushing and four touchdowns on just 16 carries in a rout of North St. Paul.

• HILL-MURRAY 27, HENRY SIBLEY 25: Quarterback Zach LaValle was 13-for-24 for 180 yards and two touchdowns, helping Hill-Murray build a lead against Henry Sibley and hold on for the victory. Henry Sibley rallied within two points in the game’s closing minutes, but its two-point conversion attempt failed, sealing the victory for the Pioneers.

MINNESOTA RIVER
• MAYER LUTHERAN 14, WATERTOWN-MAYER 13: Watertown-Mayer had two chances to pull out a victory Friday, but Mayer Lutheran hung on in the closing minutes. Adrian Eliason scored with 1:21 left to bring Watertown-Mayer within a point, but Brandon Stein’s run for the two-point conversion failed. Watertown-Mayer recovered the onside kick, but an interception finally sealed the game for Mayer Lutheran.

MISSISSIPPI 8
• ST. MICHAEL-ALBERTVILLE 28, BECKER 14: Ryan Lyzhoft had 25 carries for 127 yards, leading a steady attack in the victory over Becker. Tommy Benson had 211 yards passing for Becker but was intercepted three times.

METRO AREA
• BLAINE 26, HOPKINS 20 (OT): The legend of Duke Anyanwu is starting to grow. The Blaine quarterback rushed for all four Bengals touchdowns — including the winner in overtime — to help Blaine prevail in a dramatic game. Hopkins forced overtime with a late drive capped by an Andre McDonald touchdown grab, but the Royals couldn’t score in the extra session.

• MINNETONKA 24, ARMSTRONG 0: Scott Benedict completed 15 of 17 passes for 210 yards and three scores, helping Minnetonka overcome three first-half turnovers to beat Armstrong on the road. Malcolm Moore caught seven passes for 93 yards and a touchdown for the Skippers, while the defense held Armstrong to 106 total yards.
