RECAP: Mounds View has made a habit of pulling out last-second victories this season, but this one topped them all. The Mustangs, facing a fourth-and-goal from the 13 and needing a touchdown to tie host White Bear Lake in overtime, got a scoring pass from Joe Fredrickson to an open Jeremiah Bonde in the right corner of the end zone. Then, instead of kicking a tying extra point, the Mustangs used the same Fredrickson-to-Bonde combination to complete a stunning victory in the Class 6A, Section 4 playoff game.

KEY OF THE GAME: The Mustang defense had been torched in a 45-25 loss at White Bear Lake just two weeks ago. But Mounds View put constant pressure on Bears quarterback Trey Anderson this time, keeping him mostly in check while forcing a pair of turnovers.

QUOTE: “The touchdown was ‘88’ and the two-point conversion was a ‘waggle out.’ So it was different plays but both wide open. I was surprised, very surprised. My eyes lit up and I thought I had to make a play and I did.” -- Fredrickson, of his two final scoring passes

ONE THING TO KNOW: Mounds View (7-2) also had last-gasp victories earlier this season against Roseville and Stillwater.
