In a breakneck finale, Mounds View prevailed 50-47 over Roseville, scoring the go-ahead touchdown with 32 seconds remaining in regulation.

The Mustangs’ offensive line began the game getting the push it needed, resulting in long drives and grinding on the Raiders’ linebackers. Matt Hunt found the end zone three times in the first half and finished the game with 233 yards and 6 touchdowns.

After Mounds View broke out to a 21-6 lead in the second quarter, though, the Raiders responded with a pair of quick scores. Taking advantage of a Mustang defense that was put on it heels by a couple of deep passes, the Raiders found just enough room to trim the Mustangs' lead at halftime to 21-19.

The second half turned into a back-and-forth offensive slugfest, with eight lead changes, 57 points scored and 1,054 total yards between the two teams. In the fourth quarter alone, the teams combined for six scores.

Mounds View had the ball on the Roseville 21-yard line, trailing 47-42, when Joe Fredrickson completed a fourth-down pass to Ryan Kaczynski to the three-yard line. The pass was the junior’s first reception of the game and set up the winning touchdown.
