Lakeville North bounced back from its first loss of the season to thump Burnsville 41-7.

The Blaze scored first but the home-team Panthers (5-1) kept answering. The offense converted a Burnsville (2-4) fumble and interception into touchdowns. And Tristyn Hanson’s 50-yard scoop and score allowed the Panthers’ defense to score.

Burnsville (2-4) struck first, recovering a Panthers fumble and completing two passes to Charlie Fredericks for 57 yards to set up a short touchdown run. But the Panthers (5-1) kept answering. The Lakeville North offense converted a Burnsville fumble and interception into touchdowns. And Tristyn Hanson’s 50-yard scoop and score got the Panthers defense on the scoreboard.

Key of the game: Lakeville North senior running back Jamiah Newell rushed for 186 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown that gave his team a lead it would not relinquish. Newell broke off runs of 56 and 37 yards to spark late scoring drives.

One thing to know: Facing fourth and goal from Burnsville’s 20-yard line, Lakeville North scored its first TD on a fake field goal. Zach Beier hit Greg Menard with a scoring pass after the Panthers had two potential touchdowns nullified by penalties.
